I did write a post about the grandkids’ dryland adventure - not sure why it didn’t get posted !!   Big surprise - I’m not that tech savy - like at all !

Anyway, the race was a big success. PSDC had 7 junior racers on Saturday of our annual campout.  Griffin choose Pa-Pa’s scooter and his Jack Russell DOS. Dos is pretty fast, but not that reliable so Grandma got to run with DOS on a leash. Griffin couldn’t  close the hand brakes himself, so Pa-PA ran beside him, holding on to the scooter.

It was just about as fast as we could run ! DOS did attempt to go off trail once when he saw Chris ( his owner & Griffin’s Mom). But he finished just 3 seconds behind a Siberian  - we were quite proud of the two of them. Johnn said Griffin was laughing the whole way.

Nora chose to compete with Walter - the 14 week old pup we just got and on her tricycle. Pa-Pa walked with Walter - he has practiced at home, but was very impressed with all the spectators lining the course.

As grandma, I sorta went with the trike and Nora. It’s not a natural or comfortable position,, bending over and helping steady a very small tricycle while keeping the line taunt. But we did it.

The kids finished 2nd and 3rd in the bicycle division and recieved participant ribbons and trophies. They were quite thrilled and called Dad - on the road working with the big news.

Side note on Nora’s training experience - the first time we tried Walter pulling the trike, the line jerked and pitched Nora over the handlebars and she landed on the grass and started crying.

“We don’t cry when we train dogs.” Johnn told her, “It upsets the dogs.” And he put her back on the trike. She didn’t cry anymore.
