East Meets West

After a long drive overnight, we arrived in Clearwater, MN about 11AM. I walked the trails with the Jacks. Johnn rode his bike over both the short bike & scooter trail and the longer gig trail.

There’s some real hills, and curves, plus two wooden bridges on the longer course - very easy trail around the pond for the short trail.  There’s lots of fencing up - looks like a lot of work has been done.

Just got back from the drivers meeting - 74 teams entered, Should be an excitinng race !

Race Called Mid-day due to Warm Temps

Only early classes competed at the Ohio Trailblazers Dryland Race near Kirtland, Ohio. High temps and concern for dogs overheating forced the cancelled of many classes.

The 2 Dog Scooter was one of the classes cancelled, so Johnn won that based on Saturday’s time. The 3 classes he gave me info on were the 2 dog bike, 4 dog rig and the 6 dog rig (Sorry Reggie, I totally misunderstood what Johnn said last night about that class.)

Johnn put the 2 twoyear old brothers on lead on the 4 dog team again Sunday and was pleased with how they passed up the crossing squirrels, and a nasty head-on pass that set him briefly doing a wheelie in the field after leaving the trail to avoid a collision. They came back on though !

These are SUNDAY only and Total times   (it’s what I got)

Saturday at Ohio Dryland Race

After today’s events, Johnn’s leading the 2 dog bike, 2 dog scooter and 4 dog gig. Mark Broughton is leading the 6 dog gig class. Johnn told me he took a nasty fall at the start of the scooter class and skinned up his arm. I told him to look for antibiotic spray in the dogs’  med kit.

Here’s what Johnn phoned in for times - he didn’t write down the 6 dog times, and I’m not sure how many entries in each class. Except only 2 entries in the scooter class. The race lenth is just under 2 miles. Johnn reported it was clear, sunny and warm - high 40’s to low 50’s.
